Prairie Pandemic Relief Concert Series

Winter-Spring 2021 Prairie Pandemic Relief Concert Series

Since COVID-19's deadly affects started spreading across the world, it wasn't long before Stillwater began closing down and the sound of live music floated away.  For months even attending a bar has been prohibited and our concert stages have been rendered silent and empty as events started to be cancelled across the state.  These difficult times have also affected the musicians in a profound way as a critical source of income, as well as access to their creative outlet, have been severed.
PictureCLICK THE JAR TO MAKE A DONATION
The first concert will benefit the Stillwater Medical Center, and proceeds from the Virtual Tip Jar and Collection Jar at the event will go to the  Teri Reed, RN Memorial Nursing Scholarship. Teri Reed, RN, one of the long-time Stillwater Medical nurse leaders, was crossing 6th street at dark following her shift several weeks ago. Sadly, she died from her injuries sustained after being struck by a vehicle who did not see her crossing the street. Teri was a beloved leader who always sought to help her others finish their jobs and would do whatever it took to get the job done.  Terri was the wife of Keith Reed, OSU County Extension agent, regular columnist in the Stillwater News Press and active participant in Stillwater’s bicycle “movement”.

Red Dirt Rangers
This group, founded in 1988, currently features Ben Han, John Cooper and Brad Piccolo and plays over 100 dates per year (pre-covid). Released 10th live recording in 2018. Helped found the Red Dirt Relief Fund in 2012 which has provided more than $75,000 to 48 musicians in Oklahoma. Tours extensively and have shared the “farm house” and festival stages with other notable musicians.

March 18:

The Vintage Wildflowers
This group appeared in concert at the Customs House Museum (Clarksville, TN), the OKMozart House Concert series, the Tulsa Performing Arts Center, the Champaign Urbana Folk and Roots Festival, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, the Oklahoma City Festival of the Arts, the American Heritage Music Festival, Americana Unplugged, the Dallas Acoustic House Concert Series, the Midwest Harp Festival, etc.

April 15:

OSU Jazz Band
You will be enjoying the sound of JAZZ as you listen to a group of OSU 5-6 students in the OSU Jazz Studies program selected by faculty in Department of Music Industry who will be performing at the April concert. These are new and upcoming young musicians will be getting real world concert experience.

May 20:

Morgan and Cruz — Together
Morgan Reynolds is a local vocalist (Americana/rock/soul) songwriter, composer and front woman of the MORGAN the BAND. Classically trained as a mezzo-contralto and multi-instrumentalist (keyboard, flute, saxophone and guitar). She has been featured as a solo artist at Stillwater Bikes/Blues festival as well as numerous clubs and casinos in the USA, Caribbean, and Mexico.
Edgar Cruz is an extraordinary guitarist and performer whose popularity is incredible performing through America, Europe, and South America at concerts and festivals. Often named the Oklahoma's Top Performing Artist and/or Acoustic Guitarist by the Oklahoma Gazette. He will perform some original compositions
Morgan and Cruz have agreed to work together to provide a rare singer/songwriter experience for our audience.

June 17:

Charlie Redd and the Full Flava Kings
Charlie Redd and the Full Flava Kings band, a Tulsa institution, merges a bunch of musical genres into a clean and silky sound: funk, R&B, soul, blues, rock, hip-hop, reggae and pop. A bunch of cover bands play some old soul, funk/R&B and urban rock — but not like this band. They have an authenticity that can’t be copied. They provide good strong dance beats and a lot of energy.
